Studying light and shadow through landscape painting—whether from photo references or directly in plein air—is incredibly beneficial for any artist.
As a fine artist, I personally love plein air painting. Working outdoors with real mediums like watercolours, brushes, papers, and canvas brings a refreshing change of pace. It reconnects me with the raw essence of art and provides a much-needed mood shift from my routine comic book and storybook illustration projects.
There’s something truly grounding and inspiring about painting under the open sky, capturing nature’s light in real time.
